Some members have received an email indicating that it is from us, General
Electric Credit Union (GECU), telling them to "update their
information by clicking on a link that states they are going to
www.gecreditunion.org.
HOWEVER, when clicking on this link, they are actually going to:
http://www.gecreditunion.org.orserv.net/
(DO NOT GO HERE --- this is not our site!)
The email also says to call "customer service" with questions, and the number
the phishing email gives is: 513.398.0076 - our Member Service FAX number.
This email is NOT from us! We will never initiate a phone
call or an email asking you to update, validate, or provide us with your personal information.
The email reads like this:
Dear Member: To protect your
General Electric Credit Union account from unauthorized access, we have set
limit of failed login attempts. Unfortunately, you have just reached
critical number of attempts, so your access to Online Banking has been
limited for the security purposes.
To restore your account access, please login to
www.gecreditunion.org. (This
is where the link is fake!)
