Security is a primary concern for anyone making financial transactions on the
Internet. Our security features include:
GECU’s Online Banking,
Multi-Factor Authentication and
Web BillPay uses the powerful encryption technology through browsers that support Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) 128-bit encryption. SSL technology encrypts all communications between you and the processing center to ensure the security of your data. This technology prevents monitoring of your accounts and unauthorized access to your account information.
Additionally, we have built-in safeguards. You are assigned a computer generated password.
For Online Banking, you must use this password along with your member number to initially login. After your initial login, you are required to change your password; it must be at least 8 characters long and have at least one number and at least one letter.
We take security very seriously and have added an additional layer to
our Online Banking system, called Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). MFA
lets you know you are at our official Online Banking site and it let's us
know it is really you accessing your accounts.
We've added another form of security with, Security Key,
a code that will appear next to your member number every time you login to Online Banking.
Security Key helps protect you from Phishing scams. Once it has been activated, if you don’t see the Security Key when you first
login, you should contact us immediately so we can change your password.
The system also limits the number of login attempts. If, after several attempts, the member number and password do not match exactly, the system will be locked. Only upon
calling the credit union can the system be reset.
Another built-in safeguard is automatic termination after a period of time of inactivity. After 15 minutes of inactivity,
Online Banking and
Web BillPay automatically terminates requiring the user to login again to begin another session. This built-in safeguard protects your account information from unauthorized access if you forget to log off.
