Whether you're here to begin your membership and open your first account or you're ready to open your next account, we've made it easy to get started. 

We currently offer online account opening for savings, checking, certificate, and money market accounts. Individual retirement accounts (IRAs), health savings accounts (HSAs), and business accounts are not available at this time. Apply for and fund your account in 5-10 minutes!

Can I be a member?
You are eligible for membership at GECU if you live, work, worship, or attend school in one of the Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana communities we serve. In addition, if you are an employee or member of one of our Select Employer Groups (SEGs) or are an immediate family member of a current member, you’re eligible to join, too!

What forms of identification do I need to open an account?
New members are required to provide one (1) form of identification to establish their membership and open an account:
  • Forms of ID must be: an unexpired driver’s license, state issued ID, military ID, U.S. passport; a social security card, birth certificate, or school ID card can be accepted for minors only (17 years old or younger).
  • Additional forms of identification may be requested. These can be: social security card, birth certificate, debit or credit card, library card, store/gym membership card, insurance card, work ID card, student ID card, income verification (pay stubs, fixed-income statement, tax returns, etc.), or utility bill with current address (electric, gas, cable, water, etc.).
Are my deposits insured?
Yes, your deposits are insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government.

Loan Application FAQs

How can I apply for a loan?
You can easily apply online for: vehicle/boat/RV/motorcycle loans, personal loans, credit cards, home loans, and home equity loans and lines of credit. Additionally, you can stop in a branch location to meet with a Loan Officer or Member Consultant.
Do I have to be a member of GECU to get a loan?
You may apply for a loan prior to establishing your membership. Once approved we will determine your eligibility and establish membership prior to receiving your loan funds.
