Who we are
As a not-for-profit, full-service banking option, we’ve experienced significant growth over the years and continue to be one of the most stable financial institutions in the country.
Our purpose isn’t to make a profit, but to deliver members better financial solutions. Instead of paid shareholders, we have a volunteer board of directors composed of real members making real decisions. Here at GECU, you also have a voice where you bank because opening a GECU account earns you a share of the credit union.
We’ve always remained true to the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People,” meaning we design our products and services to benefit our members and their interests. There are no hoops to jump through or misleading fine print – just better financial solutions that turn every potential into new possibilities.
Our history
Chartered in 1954 for employees of General Electric Aircraft Engines, we’ve grown to one of the largest credit unions in Ohio, now serving nearly 200,000 members.
Because we're federally insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), governed by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), your savings are federally insured up to at least $250,000 and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government.
How can we help you?
Whether it’s checking accounts, mortgages, digital services, or investments, our genuine commitment to the Greater Cincinnati communities is part of everything we do. If you have questions about how we can assist you, please contact us or visit a GECU location today!
