How to Conquer Your Amazon Prime Day Shopping List

Amazon Prime Day 2024 is on the horizon. July 16th-17th, Prime members will have access to deals on electronics, kitchen tools, and much more. From making payments with a credit card to completing a wish list in advance, there are many ways you can conquer your shopping list and protect your wallet, too!

5 tips for a successful Amazon Prime Day

1. Download the Amazon app

App users are the first to know about Prime Day Lightning Deals because they receive mobile alerts when they are about to begin. Download the app before Prime Day so you can act fast on the items you care about the most. Not only does the app make deals more accessible, but it will also allow you to compare prices and use Alexa for hands-free browsing.

2. Time your free trial

If you’re not a Prime member yet, you can sign up for a free trial to take advantage of the sale. Just set a reminder in your smartphone or other device to ensure you cancel the membership within the 30-day period. Otherwise, you’ll get dinged with a membership fee you didn’t budget for.

3. Use a credit card

Credit cards that let you earn reward points or cashback can help you get even more out of the Amazon Prime Day purchases you make. Cashback can be applied to your card’s balance as a statement credit, while credit card points can be redeemed for cashback, gift cards, and more!

4. Have a wish list

Preestablishing your wish list will allow you to quickly check whether any of your most-wanted items are on sale for Prime Day. This approach may also help you cut back on unnecessary spending. Instead of browsing through every deal the ecommerce giant has to offer, you can reference your own pre-determined list and forgo the temptation altogether.

5. Think outside of the box

Did you know that many retailers host sale events during the Prime Day period? Often, they’ll feature these sales both on Amazon and on their own website, too. Not only does this mean you don’t have to be a Prime member to shop the sale, but you can also take advantage of any on-site point programs offered by the retailer.

Get the most out of Amazon’s two-day sale by using your General Electric Credit Union (GECU) credit card to earn rewards on purchases you were going to make anyway. Then, use secure Online Banking or our mobile app to settle up.1 With points and cashback, that new smart TV or air fryer will benefit you both now and in the future.
