How to place a stop payment

Need to stop payment on a check or ACH transaction? Doing so is easy thanks to GECU’s secure digital banking options.

Shut down check and
ACH payments immediately

  • Stop a check from being cashed or block an ACH transaction
  • Stop payments for up to 6 months
  • Easily request via Online Banking or our mobile app1

There are times it may be necessary to place a stop payment on a check you wrote or on an ACH transaction you authorized be debited from your account.

Checks

Members can place a stop payment on a check via Online Banking or our mobile app for a $32 fee.

  • Online Banking. Go to Additional Services then Stop Payment. You must enter check number(s) and check amount(s).
  • Mobile app. Go to More then Stop Payment under Additional Services. You must enter check number(s) and check amount(s).

 

ACH transactions

Members can place stop payments on ACH transactions by contacting the Credit Union. You will receive an electronic form, agree to the $32 fee, and sign and send back to us. 

Stop payments remain in effect for 6 months unless the member requests the Stop Payment to be lifted. Stop payments cannot be done on debit card transactions. Fees may apply; please see our Fee Schedule for more information.
